Tonko & Marchione to Speak at Economic Summit

MECHANICVILLE- the Mechanicville Stillwater Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the annual Economic Summit on the evening of October 16th. This will be held at the Mechanicville Stillwater Elks on Park Avenue in Mechanicville. The Summit will start at 5:30 P.M.

Local residents and businesses will have the opportunity to get updates on the economic growth in the area. This includes information on sectors with anticipated job growth.

Paul Tonko Takes Walking Tour of Waterford – by M. LeMay

 

WATERFORD AUGUST 14 –Congressman Paul Tonko, Chamber of Southern Saratoga County President/CEO Pete Bardunias, Chamber Ambassadors, and members of the Waterford Community Business Alliance took a stroll down Broad Street to see firsthand the hardworking businesses and business owners of downtown Waterford. First stop on the tour was The Dessert Tray, owned and operated by Tracy Zordan. Tracy has owned The Dessert Tray for a little over a year now but has been making desserts (her passion) for years. She chose Waterford as the location for her business because of her ties to the community. Tracey has lived in Waterford most of her life and is also a kindergarten teacher at the Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School.

Free Summer Meals at Park Ave. Playground

MECHANICVILLE JULY 7- Thirty children arrived at the Park Avenue Playground for free summer lunch. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through August 15 children 18 and under will receive a free lunch by simply showing up at the playground. This program is administered by the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center through funding by the United Way.

Congressman Paul Tonko was a special guest. He spent time with the MACSC staff and volunteers. Then he spent some time with the children on the swings and the playground merry go round.

Tonko Statement on Anniversary of September 11th

WASHINGTON – Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) released the following statement this evening on the anniversary of September 11th. Tonko will mark the day by attending a remembrance ceremony with Congressional colleagues at the U.S. Capitol, and participating in a USO service project, assembling care packs for wounded, ill and injured service members.
 
“Today is a day to pause and remember those we lost twelve years ago, our first responders who sprang into action, and the brave men and women of our armed services who continue to sacrifice in defense of our great nation. In their honor, we must work together toward a world that is built upon peace and prosperity while rejecting the forces of terrorism and violence.”

Tonko Statement on 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

ALBANY – Congressman Paul Tonko released the following statement in observance of tomorrow’s 50thanniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech.
 
“As a young person, I was inspired by MLK, JFK and RFK and I am proud of the significant progress our nation has made over the past 50 years in the way of civil rights, but our work is not complete. On this truly historic day of Dr. King’s I Have a Dream speech, let us remember the tireless efforts of civil rights champions past and present and work each day to make Dr. King’s message a reality. From the Voting Rights Act to unemployment to opportunities at higher education, we must remain vigilant in our pursuit of freedom, equality and social justice until it is fully realized by all of our friends and neighbors.”
