SUNY Potsdam Student Michael Janucik of Clifton Park, NY Completes Summer Study Abroad Program

POTSDAM, NY (10/24/2014)(readMedia)-- Thirty-one SUNY Potsdam students recently completed study abroad programs across the globe, both in short-term service journeys and in summer-long experiences.

The students included Michael Janucik from Clifton Park, NY, who completed student teaching in Australia over the summer.

Shenendehowa High School graduate Nicholas Hess joins the Colgate University Class of 2018

SUNY Potsdam Awards Scholarships to Area Undergraduate and Graduate Students

POTSDAM, NY (10/21/2014)(readMedia)-- The State University of New York at Potsdam has awarded scholarships, grants and awards to 998 students for the 2014-15 academic year. These accomplished SUNY Potsdam undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their achievements with support for their educational experience.

This year's recipients included:

  • Molly Bonnier of Melrose, NY, whose major is Dance. Bonnier was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Kirsten Carlo of Valley Falls, NY, whose major is Art Studio. Carlo was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Kayla Fraser of Clifton Park, NY, whose major is Music Education. Fraser was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Taylor Hughes of Clifton Park, NY, whose major is Biochemistry (Bachelor of Science). Hughes was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Alexandria Kosek of Clifton Park, NY, whose major is Music Education. Kosek was awarded the Paul E. Hunt '50 Crane School of Music Recruitment Scholarship and the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Robert Krupanich of Clifton Park, NY, whose major is Music Education. Krupanich was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Transfer Scholarship.
  • Amy Lynch of Schaghticoke, NY, whose major is Psychology. Lynch was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Madison Mahar of Mechanicville, NY, whose major is Biology (Bachelor of Science). Mahar was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • John Marshall of Clifton Park, NY, whose major is Music Education. Marshall was awarded the Mary Repazy Kuracina Scholarship and the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Amna Siddiqui of Clifton Park, NY, whose major is Politics. Siddiqui was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Marissa Skaczkowski of Mechanicville, NY, whose major is Art Studio. Skaczkowski was awarded the Lucy Dai Scholarship, the Rebecca R. Pratt Arts and Sciences Scholarship and the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.
  • Stephen Whimple of Clifton Park, NY, whose major is Music Performance. Whimple was awarded the Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet Award.

SUNY Oswego announces area's August graduates

Stillwater and Other Schools Turn to Lobbyist – by H. Wessell

STILLWATER, October 21-Faced with a pattern of the State of New York giving less and less to smaller school districts that already have less and less, Stillwater Central School Superintendent Dr. Stanley Maziejka and a North Country Superintendent have taken the lead in a new tactic. Banding together with more and more schools in the 31-school district served by the area BOCES, they are ready to do what everybody else looking for more money from Albany does , enlisting their own lobbyist.

Change the Culture to Change the Behavior – R. Cordani

STILLWATER- OCTOBER 20- Police Commissioner Ray Cordani conducted the annual Domestic Violence News Conference at the Town Hall. He appreciated the cell phones that are donated from the local community. He is grateful to receive them and sad that we still need them. Over 4,000 cellphones have been collected at the Stillwater PD. He said "we need to change the culture to change the behavior."
