Stillwater to Re-Open Hall of Fame – by S. DeCelle
The inaugural class elected into the Stillwater High School Hall of Fame may have some company this upcoming year. After eight years of a standstill, Coach Ian Lewis and Athletic Director Michael Kinney are heading the movement to re-open the hall to honor the school district’s outstanding athletes and coaches.
Stillwater’s Hall of Fame currently consists of eight members. Six individual athletes as well as two teams sit in the hall.

SUNY Oswego lists area recipients of bachelor's degrees
OSWEGO, NY (06/25/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Oswego recently recognized those who completed baccalaureate studies in spring 2015, including several area residents.
A student who graduates with honors is indicated by the traditional Latin phrases summa cum laude, with highest honor (grade averages of 3.8 to 4.0); magna cum laude, with great honor (grade averages of 3.6 to 3.79); and cum laude, with honor (grade averages of 3.30 to 3.59).

51 students selected for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) at the University of New Haven
WEST HAVEN, CT (06/24/2015)(readMedia)-- Fifty one students at the University of New Haven have been selected to receive a $3,000 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship award. The SURF program is supported by a generous donation from Frank Carrubba '69, '79 M.S. and his wife, Pat. Since the program began in 2007, more than 130 students have been selected to participate. Students selected for SURF will submit a research proposal,conduct their research over the summer,submit a final paper and present their findings at a campus research symposium. The grant allows the students to work with UNH faculty over the summer on a research project and to live on campus.

Lyme Disease Prevention Seminar: June 26th
You are invited to join The Mechanicville Rotary Club on Friday, June 26th at Stillwater Town Hall at 11 AM for an important presentation on Lyme and other tick-borne diseases given by Steve Borgos, a Lyme Disease survivor and local advocate for change to the medical and public policies surrounding treatment guidelines and the economics of these diseases.
Borgos has had an “up-close and personal” education on the complicated issues surrounding tick-borne diseases. “Lyme disease and the insidious co-infections that create serious illness are a major public health challenge that will co-opt our health and our health-care system if we don’t get a much better handle on them now,” said Borgos.
