SARATOGA LAKE – Laura A. Boiani, 46, of Route 9P, died unexpectedly Wed., Feb 3rd, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, after apparent cardiac failure.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 6 PM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 895 Hudson Ave., Stillwater. Calling hours at the Church on Monday from 4-6 PM.

Remembrances may be made to Northeast Kidney Foundation, 501 New Karner Rd, Ste 6, Albany, 12205 or Saratoga County Animal Shelter in memory of Laura A. Boiani.

John J. Powers – 75

SARATOGA LAKE – John J. Powers, 75, died at home peacefully Monday evening, January 11th.

Born in Troy, Dec. 22, 1940, son of the late William and Ann Callahan Powers, John was a 1958 graduate of Mechanicville High School. After school, John served with the US Army’s Artillery being honorably discharges as a Spec. 4th.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at Noon at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with military honors at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Thursday from 4-7 PM.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of John J. Powers.

SARATOGA LAKE – Andrew L. Clark, 51, of 9th St., died Sunday morning, June 28th, at his home, in the loving company of his family and friends.A gathering of family and friends will began at 1 PM Thursday at his very close friends, William and Debra LaMay’s home, 66 Shore Ave., (Saratoga Lake) Saratoga Springs. Casual attire is requested. Remembrances may be made to the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society in fond memory of Andrew L. Clark.

TOWN OF STILLWATER, February 8 – "It's getting off to a good start," Town Supervisor Edward Kinowski emailed to  his Town team in the latter hours of Sunday's second event of the  first annual Winter Celebration on Saratoga Lake. "There's a small group out there on the lake doing the ice fishing. We've had kids coming in and out. We had about fifteen here [a few minutes before], and they all went inside ... because it was a little cold. So we told them go in and warm up and come on outside and we'll bake some s’mores."

No Swimming This Year at Brown’s Beach – by H. Wessell

This Thursday an executive session - required because of a contract change - will be held in part because opening the beach will now involve a change in the lease. It it is expected that the Town, not one of the operators engaged for the site, will be operating the beach itself.
Supervisor Kinowski talking with the Express on Monday indicated it is expected that opening the beach area for bathers will be ruled out for this year, for various legal and procedural complications that have compounded the many weather related hurdles.
