Sid Foley – 51

Sid Foley of Weatherwax Lane, Melrose, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Albany Medical Center.  He was 51.

Born in Alexandria, VA on July 14, 1961 to the late Elbert G. and Winnifred (Harris) Foley.  Sid is the husband of Frances V.(Sander) Foley whom he married on July 3, 1988.

Sid worked for US Airways, and recently was a ramp service supervisor at Southwest Airlines.

Robert A. Ahrent – 61

 

 

STILLWATER – Robert A. Ahrent, 61, of Oak Lane, died Tuesday, Nov. 6th, at his home, after a long illness, in the loving company of his family.

Born in Elizabethtown, NY, April 7, 1951, he was the son of the late Elaine Currier Grober.

A millwright most of his life, Bob worked at Al Tech Specialty Steel Co. in Watervliet for 27 years, until retiring on disability a number of years ago.

He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union, had served with the US Marine Corps, loved fishing, and enjoyed bowling in several leagues including the Saturday Nite Live League for years at Hometown Lanes.

Mrs. Mary Vaccarella Cavotta – 101

MECHANICVILLE – Mrs. Mary Vaccarella Cavotta, 101, died Tuesday, Nov. 6th at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa, following a brief illness.

Born in New York City, June 29, 1911, daughter of the late John and Josephine Cimo Vaccarella moved with her family to Mechanicville when she was 12 years old.  She was a 1930 graduate ofMechanicville High School and a 1933 graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing, receiving her Registered Nurses license.  She nursed at St. Mary’s Hospital for 7 years, and then began raising her family.  She assisted her husband’s dental practice in Mechanicville for a number of years.

She was a charter member of the former Sons of Italy Senior Dante Club, was a longtime member of the WIBC bowling league and was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church and the church’s Rosary Altar Society.

F. David Waters – 61

STILLWATER – F. David Waters, 61, of Dorchester Drive, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 6th at St. Peter’s Hospice, Albany, in the loving company of his family.

Born in Troy, June 22, 1951, son of the late Fred and Elsie Shampine Waters, Dave was a 1969 graduate of Hoosic Valley Central School.

Dave was currently employed by WSWHE Boces in Saratoga Springs for the last 5 years, as the Director of Facilities.  He loved his job and enjoyed going to work everyday.  Previously he was facilities director for the Stillwater Central School District for 10 years, and had also worked for Blanchard Industrial Supply of Troy.

Saverio D. “Sam” Spano – 65

Saverio D. “Sam” Spano, 65, of River Road, Hemstreet Park, died Saturday morning, Nov. 3rd,  atAlbany Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born in Watertown, NY, April 13, 1947, he was the son of late Philip and Carmella Amedeo Spano, and was a 1965 graduate of Watertown High School.

Richard Brown, Sr. – 87

Richard Brown, Sr., formerly of Lake Street, Stillwater passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Maplewood Manor. He was 87.
Born in Stillwater on September 27, 1925 to the late Peter and Pearl (Becker) Brown. He is the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Post) Brown and father of the late Daniel Brown and the late Jeff Brown. He is also predeceased by his brother the late Robert Brown.

Alexander N. Russom – 82

MECHANICVILLE – Alexander N. Russom, 82, of Stillwater Bridge Rd., died Sunday, November 4, at his home, with his loving family at his side.  Born in Round Lake, May 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Jane Ruddock Russom.

 A Mechanicville High School graduate, Mr. Russom joined the US Navy and had served aboard the USS Cogswell and USS Witek until his honorable discharge.  Alex was proud of his time served earning a rank of Machinist 2nd Class and often referred to his time served as being a “Tin Can Sailor.”

Gina Marie Childrose-Hunt – 44

Gina Marie Childrose-Hunt of Hudson Avenue passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She was 44.

Born in Albany on May 1, 1968, she is a daughter of Allen and Helen "Judie" (Hofelich) Childrose. She is the wife of Harold B. "Harry" Hunt whom she married on May 16, 2008.

Mrs. Mary Gainski Tarsa – 90

MECHANICVILLE – Mrs. Mary Gainski Tarsa, 90, of Riverside, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 6that St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Riverside, born Sept. 13, 1922, daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Shimko Gainski, Mary was the widow of Frank M. Tarsa, who died in 1977.

Mrs. Ruth Baker Dunn – 97

STILLWATER – Mrs. Ruth Baker Dunn, 97, of County Route 76, died Monday Nov. 5th, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa, after an extended illness.

A native and life long resident of Stillwater, born Oct. 28, 1915, daughter of the late Frank and Daisy Crandall Baker, she was the widow of the late Guy Dunn, who died in 2000.
