Matthew J. Kiley – 95

STILLWATER – Matthew J. Kiley, 95, of No. Hudson Ave., died Friday, May 10th at St. Mary’s Hospital, troy, after a short illness.

Born in Mechanicville, July 291917, he was son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Facto Kiley. During WWII, Matt proudly served in the US Army’s 929th Field Artillery Battalion of the 104th Infantry Division, the “Timberwolves”, serving on the front lines in France and Holland, during the allies push into Germany. He was honorably discharged after VE Day.

Ernest J. Scarati – 87

MECHANICVILLE – Ernest J. Scarati, 87, of Vial Ave., passed into his new life with the Lord, Friday, May 10th, at Evergreen Commons, East Greenbush, after a long illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, November 7, 1925, son of the late John and Madeline DeSorbe Scarati. Ernie served with the US Army Signal Corps during WWII.

A painter at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. in Mechanicville for 28 years, until the plant closed in 1971. He then worked at the G.E. Knolls Lab in Niskayuna until retiring in 1988.

Rollin Ratoon – 53

Rensselaer Co., Schaghticoke

Rollin Loring Ratoon passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at home. He was 53. He is predeceased by his father, Charles Leroy Ratoon and his sister Renee Ratoon King.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Dixson Ratoon, two brothers, Reginald and Reuben and his sister Rebecca Resnick.
In keeping with the family wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Interment will be in the Warren Cemetery, Boytonville. Arrangements are under the directions of the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, Schaghticoke. Online remembrances may be made at www.chasesmithfamily.com

Theodore H. Clements, Esq. – 60

CLIFTON PARK – Theodore H. Clements, Esq., 60, of MacElroy Road, died Monday, May 6th at home, in the loving company of his family.

Born October 27, 1952, son of the late Harry and Carolyn Vandewater, Ted was a 1970 graduate of Mechanicville High School.  A graduate of HVCC of Troy and Siena College, Ted earned his law degree from Albany Law School in 1988, and was admitted into the NYS Bar later that year.

Ted had worked for the NYS Comptrollers office, and his law career was with the Schenectady County Public Defenders office, NYS Div. of Parole and retired from the NYS Division of Criminal Justice.

Tyler W. Middleton – 49

Tyler W. Middleton of Laural Lane passed away as result of an accident on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the family hunting camp in Birch Point. He was 49.

Born in Schenectady on March 9, 1964 son of Dorothy (Johnson) Middleton and the late Stanley W. Middleton.

Tyler was employed by Quick Response Restoration in Round Lake.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and also gardened, growing tomatoes and garlic at his home. His favorite times were those spent at the camp in Birch Point.

James R. Rose – 60

MECHANICVILLE – James H. Rose, 60, of Park Ave., died Sunday, May 5th, after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, January 9, 1953, son of the late Howard and Anna Mae Baker Rose, Jim was a 1971 graduate of LaSalle Institute of Troy, and also had graduated from Plattsburgh State College.  He assisted his mother’s former business Rose Insurance Agency for a number of years.

Joseph R. Lupo – 69

GANSEVOORT – Joseph R. Lupo, 69, of Pettis Road, died Saturday, April 27th, at Glens Falls Hospital, after being stricken at home.

Born in Troy, April 3, 1944, son of the late Joseph and Mary Lupo McLaren, Joe grew up and was educated in Stillwater.  A veteran of the US Navy Seabees, serving with USN MCB-4, Joe saw duty at Guantanamo and was a part of the Cuban Missile Crisis blockade in the early 1960’s.  After military service, Joe was a truck driver for 33 years, for ABF Freight Systems and earlier for Friehoffer Baking Co.

George W. Arnold, Sr. – 91

Born on August 30, 1921 in Mechanicville to Herbert Patrick and Bertha (Bolton) Arnold. He married the love of his life, Josephine (Palmer) Arnold on April 27, 1952.

George attended Mechanicville High School where he was an athlete in basketball, football and track. He worked at Westvaco Paper Mill and after the devastating events of Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Navy at age 20 in 1941, serving in the South Pacific.

Darrin Wesley LaBrake – 46

Born on December 12, 1966 in Schenectady, son of the late Jerald and Joan (Genter) LaBrake.

Darrin is a graduate of Mechanicville High School. He was a Certified Pipe Installer and employed by Hawk Drilling in Saratoga Springs. Darrin is a former volunteer for the Hillcrest Fire Department and enjoyed coaching in the Mechanicville-Stillwater Little League. Above all he was a family man and lived for his children.
