Dennis H. Doten – 48

MECHANICVILLE – Dennis H. Doten, 48, of West Street, Riverside, died tragically Sundaymorning, June 2nd, on the Waterford Road in the Town of Halfmoon, after being struck by a vehicle, while walking home.

Born in Troy, April 15, 1965, son of Herbert and Judith Swatling Doten, Jr. of Stillwater, Dennis was a 1983 graduate of Mechanicville High School.

After High School, Dennis enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving most of his 4 yr enlistment inHawaii. Years later, he served as a sergeant with in the US Army National Guard

A self-employed contractor, Dennis had worked for the Watervliet Arsenal for some years. Currently, Dennis was attending ITT Tech School, holding a B+ average in the computer programming field.

Elaine Maneoleff – 87

Elaine Manoleff of Colburg Village Way passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Mary's Haven in Saratoga Springs. She was 87.

Born in Minneapolis, MN on June 6, 1925, daughter of the late George and Mary (Miller) Leakas. She is the wife of Manuel C. Manoleff.

John J. McBride, Sr. – 84

MECHANICVILLE – John J. McBride, Sr., affectionately known as “J.J.” of South Third Ave., died Sunday, May 19, in the home where he was born 84 years ago.  He was the son of the late William and Clara Wojtowicz McBride, Sr., and husband of 43 years to the late Teresa J. Gavin McBride, who died May 10, 1995. 

John joined the US Marine Corps during WWII, serving from 1945-1948, stationed in occupied Japanand China during his active duty.

After military service, he went to work for New York State Electric and Gas Co. of Mechanicville, for 38 years, serving as chief gas fitter, retiring in 1988, or as J.J. used to say, “out the gate in ‘88”.

A charter member of the Hillcrest Fire Dept., he was a patriotic American, holding memberships in the American Legion Post 91, and the V.F.W. Post 6328 both of Mechanicville, where he was a past Commander of both organizations.  He was also a member of the China Marine Assoc. and the Marine Corps League.

Jean E. Wolff – 73

STILLWATER – Jean E. Wolff, 73, of Lake St., died Friday evening, May 17th, at Albany Medical Center, after being stricken with strokes several days ago.

Born in Stillwater, December 6, 1939, she was daughter of the late Albert D. and Bertha Smodell Wolff.

Jean operated the former Wolff’s Diner in Stillwater for a number of years.  She also assisted her son’s Family Fun Amusement business over the years.

Peter J. Belmonte, Sr. – 81

CLIFTON PARK – Peter J. Belmonte, Sr., 81, well known home builder in the Capital District, died suddenly at his CliftonPark home Thursday May 16th, of natural causes.

Born and raised in Mechanicville, February 4, 1932, son of the late Dominick and Mary DeVito Belmonte, he was a 1950 grad of Mechanicville High School and a 1954 engineering graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy. Following college, Peter served in the Officer Corps of the US Army.

Calvin E. Agan – 75

STILLWATER – Calvin E. Agan, 75, of Hudson Ave., died at home Wednesday, May 15th,  after combating respiratory problems for a number of years.

Born in Grafton, Sept 22, 1937, Cal had for the last several years had been the volunteer bartender at the American Legion Post 490 in Stillwater.  Previously he had worked at Pollock’s and Andy’s Sporting Goods both of Troy for many years.

A sportsman, Cal enjoyed hunting and fishing, and the company of family and friends.

MECHANICVILLE – RoseAnn Yusaitis, 53, of Van Buren Save., Riverside, died Tuesday morning, May 14th, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Saratoga Springs, January 23, 1960, daughter of the late Edward and Vivian Halusic Gaida Yusaitis, she was 1978 graduate of Catholic Central High School, Troy.
