Local Students from Hudson Valley Community College Inducted Into Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Society

TROY, NY (12/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Local college students studying at Hudson Valley Community College were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society for two-year institutions of higher learning.

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is indicative of academic excellence. Those inducted are matriculated students who have met standards including a grade point average of 3.71 or higher.

Coastal Carolina University honors December 2013 graduates

Shawna Mason Named Member of SUNY Delhi's New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians

DELHI, NY (12/11/2013)(readMedia)-- Shawna Mason of Mechanicville, NY, has been named a member of SUNY Delhi's New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians for the 2013-14 academic year.

Mason is currently pursuing an associate's degree in Veterinary Science Technology.

Area residents studying abroad as part of Union College program

SCHENECTADY, NY (12/06/2013)(readMedia)-- The following local residents are part of a group of Union College students studying abroad during the college's winter break.

Nolan Flike, of Stillwater, NY will travel to Cordoba, Spain, focuing on cultural diversity in the context of technology. Flike is a History major.

Mollie Gilchrist, of Johnsonville, NY will travel to New Zealand, focusing on electric power development and environmental management. Gilchrist is a Political Science major.

Michael Koberger, of Schaghticoke, NY will travel to Cordoba, Spain, focuing on cultural diversity in the context of technology. Koberger is a Mechanical Engineering major.

SUNY Potsdam Dance Student Molly Bonnier Featured in Student Choreographer Concert

POTSDAM, NY (11/26/2013)(readMedia)-- The Department of Theatre and Dance at SUNY Potsdam will present performances of original dance works by student choreographers from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 on campus.  Fourteen SUNY Potsdam students who are majoring or minoring in dance have created 20 dance works for the concert, which is entitled "Kaleidoscopic." The pieces run from the technically challenging to the thematically intriguing, from the highly kinetic to abstractly sculptural, and from laugh-out-loud comedic to highly dramatic. Stylistically, everything from jazz to ballet and contemporary to tap dance is represented.

The student performers and choreographers include Molly Bonnier of Melrose, NY.

Performances of Concert A will be presented on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m., and Concert B will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. All performances will be offered in the Dunn Hall Dance Theater. Doors will open 30 minutes before each performance. Tickets are free for SUNY Potsdam students with ID and $5 for general admission.
