Crystal Betts named to Heidelberg University dean's list

According to Provost Dr. David Weininger, to be named to the dean's list, students must be enrolled full time and meet academic criteria set forth by the university.

Local Students Named to Keene State's Dean's List

KEENE, NH (05/20/2014)(readMedia)-- About 1,470 students have been named to the spring 2014 dean's list at Keene State College. To qualify for the dean's list, Keene State undergraduates must be enrolled in a degree program and must have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. Students must achieve a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale to earn dean's list honors.

Ryan Hendrickson Selected to Present Paper at Undergraduate Political Science Conference

 ONEONTA, NY (05/07/2014)(readMedia)-- Ryan Hendrickson of Clifton Park, NY, was selected to present a paper at SUNY Oneonta's sixth annual Undergraduate Political Science Conference on March 14.

Hendrickson, who is majoring in International Studies at SUNY Oneonta, presented a paper titled "The Needed Change in U.S. Foreign Policy Towards Syria."

A total of 13 students from colleges throughout New York state presented papers at the conference, which featured a keynote address titled "Human Rights and Chinese Investment in Africa" by Dr. Muna Ndulo, Professor of Law and Director of the Institute for African Development at Cornell University Law School.

Herkimer County Community College announces candidates for the College's 46th annual commencement

HERKIMER, NY (05/06/2014)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College announces candidates for the College's 46th annual commencement to be held Friday, May 16 at 5 pm in the Gymnasium of the Physical Education Building. Joelle DiDomenico Discusses Academic Findings

WORCESTER, MA (05/01/2014)(readMedia)-- Joelle DiDomenico of Mechanicville, NY, a member of Assumption College's class of 2014 presented his project "Gender and Disclosures in Child Abuse Cases" at Assumption's 20th Undergraduate Symposium on April 14-15. Joelle's project used SAIN (Sexual Abuse Intervention Network) interviews to compare aspects of disclosure of physical and sexual abuse between boys and girls. Her findings may be used to help forensic interviewers tailor their approaches to the gender of the child.

Jennifer Lachell of Waterford, NY, Competes at the Nazareth College Spring Invitational

Kayla Wheeler of Clifton Park earns 2013-14 Liberty League Winter All-Academic team honors

ROCHESTER, NY (03/03/2014)(readMedia)-- Liberty League commissioner Tracy King recently announced the 234 winter sport student-athletes who have qualified for the league's All-Academic Teams in their respective sports -- including a total of 28 student-athletes from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Kayla Wheeler of Clifton Park, N.Y., a senior on the women's basketball team, is among the honorees. Kayla is in RIT's biomedical engineering program.

The Liberty League's winter championship sports include men's and women's basketball, men's squash, and men's and women's swimming and diving. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20.

Local Students from Hudson Valley Community College Named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities

TROY, NY (03/03/2014)(readMedia)-- Local college students studying at Hudson Valley Community College were recently honored by acceptance in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.

Those honored by Who's Who include:

Joanne Iris Aclan of Mechanicville, who is studying in the Business Administration academic program. Joanne is a vice president for Phi Teta Kappa, the academic honor society, and has been involved with several other organizations on campus, including Circle K International and Habitat for Humanity.

James Greg of Clifton Park, who is studying in the Engineering Science academic program. James volunteers weekly with SAFE, which helps students with disabilities play sports. He also helped establish a charitable organization in memory of local Shaker and Shenendehowa students who were killed in a car accident.

Shaun Mackenzie of Waterford, who is studying in the Human Services academic program. Shaun is very active in the college's Human Services Club and he is currently serving as president of the organization. He has led several club initiatives, including an Adopt-a-Family Toy Drive and the group's annual used book sale.

Anna Myers of Clifton Park, who is studying in the Criminal Justice academic program. A member of Phi Theta Kappa, the academic honor society, Anna also currently serves as co-president of the Criminal Justice, Forensic Science Studies and Public Administration Club.

Leah Remington of Melrose, who is studying in the Early Childhood academic program. Leah has been involved in several charitable endeavors including the Mechanicville/Stillwater Breast Cancer Walk and a trivia night to support the American Cancer Society. A member of Phi Theta Kappa, the academic honor society, she was also the 2011 Rensselaer County Dairy Princess.

Emily Sanderson of Melrose, who is studying in the Business - Business Administration academic program. Emily is president of the college's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the academic honor society, and she is also involved in the Investment Club. She has volunteered her time in helping raise money for Autism and Breast Cancer research.

Jordan Simpson of Waterford, who is studying in the Physical Education Studies academic program. Jordan serves as captain of the men's hockey team and was named to that position in his freshman year as well.

Chelsea Smith of Melrose, who is studying in the Construction Technology - Building Construction academic program. Chelsea is a member of the women's bowling team.

Jon Merchant Receives Degree from Georgia Tech

SUNY New Paltz student Kyle Marra takes first place in international competition

NEW PALTZ, NY (02/20/2014)(readMedia)-- On Jan. 25, 2014, Absolut A Capella, SUNY New Paltz's premiere co-ed a capella group, took first prize in the 2014 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) quarterfinals for the Northeast region. The competition took place at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. Absolut A Capella faced off against nine other a capella groups from various schools around New York State and received accolades for Outstanding Arrangements and Outstanding Choreography. Absolut A Capella now moves on to compete in the Northeast semifinals in Boston on March 29.
