Hoosic Valley Honor Society Inducts New Members – by C. Barton

On May 24th 2016, fourteen selected students in sixth seventh and eighth grades were inducted into the Hoosic Valley Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). The special induction ceremony was student organized and facilitated by existing members of the National Junior Honor Society with the support of Chapter Adviser Mr. Rich Myott.

Local Residents Inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

BATON ROUGE, LA (04/20/2016)-- The following local residents recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Lena Ernst of Clifton Park (12065) initiated at East Carolina University

Zachary Melite of Clifton Park (12065) initiated at State University of New York at Oswego

Dean Smith of Waterford (12188) initiated at Alfred State College

Honor Society’s Induction Ceremony at MHS – by Sandy McBride

Twenty-four Mechanicville High School juniors and seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society in a ceremony at the Paul N. Luther Auditorium last Wednesday evening, joining the twenty-six seniors who had achieved that honor last year.  Also inducted into their school honor societies for having maintained a scholastic average of 85 or higher were 23 sophomores named to Omega Honor Society; 28 juniors in Alpha Honor Society and 39 seniors who achieved membership in Aristoi Honor Society.

Mechanicville Students Honor Veterans – by Sandy McBride

The hallways all the way from the entrance to the gymnasium at Mechanicville Elementary School were a picture of patriotism last Wednesday as the students prepared to welcome honored guests to their annual Veterans Day celebration.  Drawings of flags and patriotic sayings, letters to and pictures of family military members and veterans, all hand-drawn and hand-lettered by the kids, presented a meaningful and colorful greeting to the arriving guests.

Elk’s Announce Spring Honor Students

As part of the Elks mission to promote and support young people in our communities, the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge recognizes outstanding students at each of the local schools. For the Fall, Winter, and Spring months a student is named an Elks Honor Student at Hoosic Valley, Mechanicville, and Stillwater Schools.
