DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home Named Business of the Year

Tom Salvadore related how he began by working part time in the early 70’s at funeral homes in the area. On October 30, 1976, the day Police Officer Paul Luther was killed,Dwight  Dunn asked Tom if he would be interested in going to college. Dunn suggested that Tom pursue the GI Bill. Which he did and earned his Associates Degree in Mortuary Science while working full time as a Police Officer in Mechanicville.

Assemblywoman Woerner on State Budget

Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner (D-Round Lake) announced that the state’s final budget will lower taxes for middle-class families, encourage economic development, provide a record increase in aid to our public schools and fully eliminate the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) this year, as well as support agriculture and environmental conservation.

Bob Brown of D.C. Sports Honored – by T. Mahoney

MECHANICVILLE OCTOBER 16- Over one hundred people attended the Annual Economic Summit, sponsored by the Mechanicville - Stillwater Chamber of Commerce was held at the Elks on Thursday evening. Bob Brown, owner of D.C. Sports was honored as the Success Story of the Year.Congressman Paul Tonko, State Senator Kathy Marchione, Stillwater Supervisor Ed Kinowski, and Mechanicville Supervisor Tom Richardson represented government. Mike Russo of Global Foundries, Mike Tucker, CEO of of the Center for Economic Growth, and Todd Shimkus , President of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, represented the private sector.

Tonko & Marchione to Speak at Economic Summit

MECHANICVILLE- the Mechanicville Stillwater Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the annual Economic Summit on the evening of October 16th. This will be held at the Mechanicville Stillwater Elks on Park Avenue in Mechanicville. The Summit will start at 5:30 P.M.

Local residents and businesses will have the opportunity to get updates on the economic growth in the area. This includes information on sectors with anticipated job growth.

Saratoga Gets 1st County-Wide Ec. Development Plan – by Harold Wessell

BALLSTON SPA, March 18: The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to adopt its first truly whole-County-embracing Economic Development Strategic Plan.?   The unanimously adopted 127-page proposal prepared by consultant TIP Strategies of Austin, TX, calls for creation of a Local Development Corporation, a quasi-autonomous body with board of directors, an executive committee and three-person staff of executive director, program coordinator and administrative assistant, to carry out the organization's mission to oversee business development across the County.
