HALFMOOON – On Thursday evening May 1st, The Halfmoon Celebrations Committee kicked off their second concert of the year. Courtney Shayne a Patsy Cline Impersonator performed from 6:30 – 9:00 PM to a packed house inside the Halfmoon Town Park building. She had the crowd singing, dancing & laughing with some of her Patsy Cline stories and trivia questions. She sang all of Patsy Cline’s greatest hits and perfectly; If may say! What a performer she is and an all-around great person! If you haven’t seen one of her acts, you are certainly missing out!

Winter Concert at Mechanicville HS – by Sandy McBride

It was standing room only at the Paul N. Luther Auditorium last Wednesday evening for the annual Mechanicville Junior/Senior High School Winter Band Concert.  Conducted by instrumental music teacher Michael Jeffery, three bands . . . the 6th grade band, the 7th and 8th grade band and the high school band . . . delighted their packed house audience as each of them in turn performed a selection of classics and holiday favorites.  The show concluded with nearly 20 MHS alumni musicians joining the high school band on stage for a beautiful rendition of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”.

Holiday Concert at Mechanicville Library – by Jennifer Dugan

Join the Mechanicville District Public Library in celebrating the many holidays of the season as they present a Holiday Concert at the Library. With music and entertainment by crowd pleasers Gigi and The Lend Me a Hand Band, the community is invited to gather to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali and Kwanzaa. This free, all ages concert will kick off at 1pm on Saturday, December 14.

Mary Bove Remembered – By Sandy McBride

It was a night to remember one of Mechanicville’s most beloved citizens whose untimely death several months ago was a huge loss to our community. The incredibly beautiful music of a single harp soaring to the heights of the historic Arts Center on the Hudson on Friday evening was a fitting tribute to the late Mary Bove.

Rita Costanzi, internationally renowned harpist, composer, actor and teacher performed an array of music ranging from delicate and lilting to powerful and moving.  Telling the story behind each piece she would play, Ms. Costanzi played masterfully some of the greatest compositions for the harp ever written.
